This is a jasmine tea from Sichuan. It is named after the process and is also very popular in Sichuan and northern China. In the north, some people also call it Jasmine Fragrant Piece.
It is a daily tea enjoyed by many pepole. Even many avid enthusiasts like to drink the crumbs it formes during the production and transportation process, which they call this high powder.
This tea is characterised by a strong, rich tea flavour and also a strong jasmine floral aroma. Its tea base is green tea leaves without tea buds. The jasmine flowers and the tea base are pressed directly, a relatively crude method that produces a particularly strong aroma, as if the jasmine flowers had been Sauteed, hence the name Sauteed flowers.
This grade of jasmine tea became particularly popular during the Qing Dynasty, it is fragrant and strong and extremely refreshing. People loved it, a bit like the way Westerners love coffee.
It is relatively inexpensive and the whole process can be made by machine at present.
Many schools, companies, hotels and restaurants also very much like to buy it as a daily tea, and blended tea factories like to use it as a tea base for their blended teas.
